There's a southern accent, where I come from
The young'uns call it country
The yankees call it dumb
I got my own way of talkin'
But everything is done, with a southern accent
Where I come from.

And cousin, business is booming!

I just listened to that this morning Earl. The Johnny Cash version off the American Recordings box set. Who's tune was that originally?

jots, Tom Petty & the HB's title tune, Southern Accents. The whole CD is a fine one, I think the big song off it was Don't Come Around Here No More.

I knew that was a Petty album but wasn't sure if that was the same song. Thanks.

I didn't know the Man in Black covered that. I shall buy it forthwith. That's some good writing.

check out anything he did with Rick Rubin. Brilliant stuff, Cash doing Soundgarden, NIN, U2, Petty, and others as well as his own stuff and other country artists of course.

Bluedevil:yes ,it is as sad as Johnny Cash said !The only answer I got was encounters with immortal Krishna/Vishnou,but such entities choose who they accept to communicate with, being Immortals ,They are not binded to human standards ,and then come the time to decide if being with Immortals is a goal , or settling for human existence the only gig ,for mortals , and no connexions to better worlds . The Grateful Dead might survive the great beyond because they are also appriciated by Others ? OK !

Hipsters, tripsters,
real cool chicks, sir,
everyone's doin' that rag

You needn't gild the lily, offer jewels to the sunset
No one is watching or standing in your shoes
Wash your lonely feet in the river in the morning
Everything promised is delivered to you

Don't neglect to pick up what your share is
All the winter birds are winging home now
Hey Love, go and look around you
Nothing out there you haven't seen before now

But you can wade in the water
and never get wet
if you keep on doin' that rag
